Justice for Justin

It's not often that you meet someone who makes such an immediate impression on your life, that you know you've been changed forever, but that's exactly what happened when I met Justin Sneegas and his family.

My initial impression was that Justin was a kind, gentle, fun-loving guy who would do anything to help anyone - stranger and family alike. He radiated a sense of love that transcended the traditional definition, and wisdom beyond his years. Justin touched and changed lives and was loved by many - he made the world a better place to be. Then, on September 15, 2013 - the unthinkable happened - he was murdered. His life was cut short, and a gaping hole has been left in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

I was moved by his life and touched deeply by his passing. The strength and grace of his family are inspiring. I immediately felt compelled to do something - anything - to help...to show my sincere sympathy, but also to lift up Justin's life - to serve as a reminder to all that he was a gentle, generous spirit. That even in the face of darkness...his light shines on.

Leo Buscaglia said, "It's not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something. May I suggest that it be creating joy for others, sharing what we have for the betterment of person kind, bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely."
So, on September 13th, 2014, I will be running a 50 mile trail race at Clinton Lake to honor Justin, his goodness and the amazing life he lead and lost. This race will be my first Ultra, and a tribute to Justin and his radiant life.

All monies raised will be donated directly to his family to do with as they see fit. I'm certain that they will 'DO.GOOD.THINGS.' and 'PAY.IT.FORWARD.' in his honor. In the meantime, I'm training in the Kansas heat (which I hate)...preparing to suffer and celebrate running 50 miles!
