This is extremely humbling to do. I have given to friends and family in need before but never thought I would be on the asking end. As most of you know I have been fighting my Breast Cancer diagnosis since November 2013. I have received so much love, support and kindness through my journey. So much more then I could ever imagine! Illnesses, like Cancer, never come with warnings. We were certainly not prepared for how our lives would be changed emotionally, physically and financially. Mike and I are strong and have deep foundations in love and friendship together, so we are blessed enough to fight a good fight emotionally together.....What many of you might not know is that Mike was laid off from work on February 4 of this year (a day before my bi-lateral mastectomy) which first was a blessing for me and our kids. Mike was able to be full time nurse, caregiver, Mr. Mom, chef, taxi, you name it he has been there for us! We never imagined he would STILL be out of work today. Due to his lay off, my inability to return to work in landscape and medical bills stacking up daily, we have exhausted all of our resources and savings and are at the end of our rope. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is a daily struggle. Mike's job as a union electrician requires him to work 1000hrs each year to sustain our health insurance we are at a deadline for him to make those hours for 2014, which means we will most likely be dropped come January. I have one definite surgery for completing a final mastectomy still in front of me, but I am hopeful I will be able to begin the process of reconstruction again! Unfortunately that is a longer more intensive process and surgery (and more money). I am asking for your help only as a last resort, and I mean last! Phone calls from collectors have pushed me to put our ego aside and ask for the help our family needs. We have always been able to do for ourselves and it comes with great humility to do this but it also is with tremendous gratitude for any help we receive! We are looking for help to pay for my accumulated medical bills, those of my future surgeries and enough to cover some of our bills so we can keep our house from falling behind with the bank. My mother lives with us and she has been helping when she can (on a fixed social security salary) but I have found out that she has been using money she has set aside for my Fathers funeral to help with our bills (another not so good thing to hear and weight to have on your chest). So if you could please understand our position and help our family I would be forever grateful, humbled and touched by your generosity. I can assure you it will not go unnoticed. Our family is so blessed with so many friends and family from all over the country and we truly couldn't be more grateful for the love and kindness such an ugly disease has opened up and shown us!! It's truly unfortunate that money has to get in the way of such beauty. With many thanks and gratitude!! Kendra, Mike, Michael and Abbie (and Marley and Zoey too) #GoodJooJoo #fightlikeagirl
