Broke(n) Becki's Fundraiser

Becki was involved in a very serious car accident in January (15 broken bones, just for starters. Becki explains her injuries below). Because of her injuries, she is still unable to work. Yet, per AZ law, accident victims are responsible for all of their own bills, until a settlement can be reached. Up to this point, her family members have helped as much as possible, but they are just about tapped out. Becki has already sought help from every organization or program possible, to cover her rent, electric, etc., to no avail. She needs our help! It isn't fair that she lose her place to live & everything she owns (including her beloved fur babies - her cats) because of injuries brought on by someone who ran a red light. It is her positive attitude and sheer will to get through this that amazes those around her. She continues to hold out hope and her sense of humor has not skipped a beat! She is brave and she's a fighter, who refuses to let her injuries get the best of her. Please help with the enormous stress she's under, by helping to get her bills paid. Please help! No amount is too small and all donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you! :) ~Marla Fershwein~     From Becki: "I was a passenger in a car that was T-boned on January 20, 2014. I was the one that the truck hit. I have a pelvis that's broken in 4 places, 9 broken ribs, a broken sternum, a broken back (L2 compression fracture), a knee injury and head & neck trauma. The 2nd night in the ICU, my lung collapsed. The doctors performed an emergency (bedside) chest intubation. I hit my head pretty hard in the accident and since then, I have been having cognitive difficulties (speech, memory, etc.). I was in the ICU & Trauma unit for 2 weeks & then a physical therapy rehab facility for 4 weeks. I'm home now & I've graduated from a wheelchair to a walker (Yay!). But, I am in constant pain. I am embarrassed by my speech & memory sometimes, but I'm praying these difficulties are temporary. Every day presents new challenges, but I am surrounded by such loving friends & family. I have a good attitude & I'm hopeful that my healing will go well. I am so thankful to those of you who donate. It means the world to me! Much love, Becki"
