Justice for Sadie

Hi friends. I want to start by saying this is not an easy thing for me to ask from anyone let alone the community I live in. I would never ask if I didn't need the help and asking for help is not my strong suite. I also know how many heart wrenching things are going on in this country and many need help. This is just my reality. Thank you for taking the time to read this. All my love.

As many of you know, this year has been a very hard year for us with our current custody battle. Her father is now asking the court to take Sadie out of state to live with him because he chose to move to Nevada without getting permission from the court.

While I don't believe they will take her from the one who has raised her, this has not been an easy battle and his soul purpose is to make this very hard for us. He has voiced that many times.

Sadie has also voiced many times she does not want to go and is a very smart little girl. She is going to therapy every week or every other depending on how she's doing that week.

It is helping the repercussions of her father's actions that have caused anxiety, fear, trauma and things no 5 year old should ever have to heal from. She has a fantastic therapist who helps us all to understand how to help Sadie.

Her father pays nothing for the therapist and it is $175 per hour. He also has continued every child support hearing this year and is still claiming to not be working and paying $80 per month in support. He currently only has supervised visits as well. I 100% financially provide for my daughter.

While all this seems like obvious reasons for the court to remove custody entirely, sadly this system is flawed, changes their mind with a drop of a hat and we are still fighting.

I've spent years protecting Sadie from the adult matters he tries to involve her in for selfish gain. I believe we are doing a good job and she is still the sweet little love she has always been and my brave little girl.

I have been sadies primary care taker and advocate always but especially this year. I have fought for her safety, begged the courts to see what's really going on but unfortunately it hasn't been easy.

Believe me that I have begged this man for peace for many years, tried my everything to co-parent and it is impossible.

Recently my lawyer who has always been a blessing, dropped a bomb on me I never saw coming. She has always insisted knowing I'm a single mom with just enough to take care of Sadie and I. She has always said " don't worry about the money pay me when you can let's make sure Sadie is safe". I have always paid her what I can, a few hundred here a few hundred there. This might not sound like alot but it is alot for me when we have enough to live and nothing more. I work very hard for our life.

Now we are one month away from the trial and unless I pay off a significant amount of $10,000 balance, she is saying can not represent me.

While I understand everyone needs to be paid, I'm shocked at the timing because we've always been on the same page and honest with eachother about finances but most of all the timing is really hard on us.

His lawyer is a real shark and has no problem ethically compromising herself with the amount of money he pays her.

I am the primary caretaker of Sadie and have her full time almost. He has 4 days out of 30 per month and doesn't even utilize that.

I have gathered all the evidence I need to show his erratic behavior but I don't have the money to have my lawyer represent me at this time nor can I come up with all of it this fast .

It is important I have one because I'm not prepared this close to the trial to go in without representation. Trials are very detailed and need alot of strategy. Although my evidence and hard work is good, I am not a lawyer and do not understand the working of family court the way she does. This is also a very emotional process.

I am close to $30,000 dollars in debt in lawyer fees between this one and the amount I owe the previous company my lawyer which worked for ( over $12,000 which most of is hers also). She was gracious enough to still take me after she moved on her own.

I had to make a choice in the last 6 months to pay the $4,800 for the psychological evaluation or pay my lawyer and the evaluation took presidence. My lawyer said it was the most important thing to pay because she cares and believes in keeping Sadie safe more then herself.

I been graced with appearances in court but the debt is still here and she will not fight this trial with me without paying a huge amount of this debt.

This is not about all of the debt( I will spend a long time paying that off and it's worth it to keep Sadie safe) but about paying her before the beginning of November so that she can help me.

This is the biggest court date of the last 6 years and I really really need the help. Anything at all helps and if you would like to see the bills I have them all.

Thank you so much and thank you to all that have helped us walk through this emotionally physically spiritually and mentally. I could not have ever done this without my village and Sadie and I are lucky to have all of you. Sadie is my world and the most important person in my life.

I am also asking for letters of character, instances when you've witnessed his erratic behavior at exchanges, personal encounters with him, recommendations, probono sharks and any sound advice or love you'd like to give us.

Please help us fight this fight to make sure without a shadow of a doubt this judge understands Sadie should be with her tribe in California as she always has. Thank you.
