Hurricane Harvey Recovery

The heavy rain and wind from Hurricane Harvey caused a lot of damage to the Texas coast. My family and I have been residents of the Richmond/Fort Bend county area for the past seven years. This is the place we call home. Due to Hurricane Harvey we were forced to evacuate; Sunday 8/27/17. We hurriedly left our home with just some clothes for the next few days; thinking we will be back soon; and not knowing this event would forever change our lives.
Our home was overcome with a few feet of water. Everything on the floor was destroyed. We not only lost our home; we lost furniture, shoes, clothes, beds, and electronics.
Both of our vehicles were submerged in the water and has been totaled by the insurance company. We were able to salvage a few belongs but still our lost has been tremendous.
My house is now almost unrecognizable. With help from some many good Samaritans and volunteer; we’ve be able to remove the flooring to begin the cleaning process. We’re now living in an apartment until we’re able to fully recover from this unfortunate event.
Even though it is very difficult to deal with the current situation, God is still in control. I have learned during the past weeks that we still have a wonderful life because of good people around us. We have been fortunate to have great friends and family who have made accommodations for us to stay in their house. We have church volunteers who have been helping with the cleanup work. God blessed me with the opportunity to work for a great company. (Live Nation) I want to thank so many coworkers for being so very understanding and willing to do whatever to support us. Not to mention so many others, including strangers, which helped in so many ways. God bless them for their time and efforts.
Though it is not in my nature to ask for help, especially when so many less fortunate homes are still under water. I’m set up this fundraising campaign at the urging of my friends, family and colleagues who would like to contribute to help my family restore the place we called home for the past seven years.
