Hope for Heidi

My name is Jamie and I am Heidi’s daughter. My mother has been in deteriorating health since summer of 2017. In July she was admitted into the ER with severe dehydration and kidney failure. They kept her hydrated and ran some tests and sent her home. She began battling regular nausea and lack of appetite. Soon came the swelling in her hands and feet and aching joints. She then began being treated for Rheumatoid Arthritis. During all of this my 94 year old grandmas health was going downhill as well. She began living with my mother and stepfather which became difficult for both of them. My mother lost over 65 lbs in the span of a few months and December proved impossible when she could no longer breath nor walk across a room. She was admitted into the Hospital on 1/2/18 with pulmonary embolism showing a blood clot in her leg and multiple clots on her lungs. They also drained over 3.5 liters of fluids from her lungs. During these procedures they discovered a small hole in her lung so a chest tube was placed. They ran days of tests and discovered spots on her pelvis and spine. This was determined to be cancer. After further tests she was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma (mucus secreting organ cancer). It is malignant and has spread to her hip/spine. She will be undergoing radiation this week while in the hospital and will begin Chemo once the originating organ is discovered tomorrow. My mother had to quit her job last year due to her health issues which left my stepdad Steven in a position of being away from home often to keep the money coming in. He drives truck and often has out of state loads. Needless to say, the time away thus far and moving forward on this long journey will be a difficult one for us all. I would love to be able to provide them some peace of mind on meeting those demands and medical costs in any way possible.
