Help Fund Joyce's Battle with Lymphoma

Donation protected
A few months ago, late February to be exact, my family learned that my Mom had a large mass on her pancreas.  We all assumed the worse, and thought it was pancreatic cancer (which is a terrible form of cancer with a low survival rate).  We all became prayer warriors and spread the word like wild fire to get everyone praying for a miracle.  My family made the decision that Cancer Treatment Centers of America was the way to go and so my mother began her journey.

After many tests it was concluded that she did NOT have pancreatic cancer, but rather a serious and rapid growing form of Lymphoma.  PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED!! She immediately began treatment in Chicago at CTCA.  For the last several months my mom has undergone 5 rounds of chemotherapy, 21 days apart, 4 days straight (in a hospital bed hooked up 24 hours a day)  Needless to say, it has been a tough battle.  She still has one treatment to go, a harvest of her stem cells, and in August she will have the healthy stem cells transplanted.  She is already in remission, and her mass is nearly completely gone, and the doctors say that after the stem cell transplant she will be “good as new”.  PRAISE THE LORD!

She was set to retire on April 18th and finally did so on May 30th.  She has been struggling with weakness, nausea, and has lost a lot of weight.  Because of her struggle, my dad has also not been able to work.   He has been too busy being the most amazing husband any man could be, traveling to Chicago with her EVERY time and sitting by her bed each day.  Not to mention taking care of her when she has been at home.  Unfortunately, along with the struggle to beat cancer, they have had a struggle to make ends meet financially.  They chose Chicago for treatment because my mom’s insurance covers her treatment and flight, however, my dad has been responsible for each plane flight and hotel stay.  Currently, they are in Chicago for a month and in mid-August they will be there again for potentially 6 weeks.

My parents do not like to ask for money, so they have been doing their best to make it but they really need some help to make ends meet with bills (since they’ve both been unable to work) my dad’s flights (that range from $300-$400 every 21 days) and hotel stays (thankfully he gets a discount but it still runs them about $40 per night).  Their wonderful church family has decided to have a fundraiser chicken BBQ for them on August 2, 2014 from 11-1:30.  Smith’s is making the dinners and they are $10 each (30% of each dinner goes to my parents).  The meal includes, ½ chicken, baked potato, baked beans, a choice of macaroni salad or apple sauce, and a roll.  Pre-order tickets by contacting myself, Nancy Stum, or Pamela Motter, and pick up the chicken that day at Cumberland Drive-in.  We would be so blessed if we were able to get a large turn out!  If you are unable to make it to the chicken BBQ but would like to help in any way financially please following the link provided.

We thank you in advance for your consideration!
