For over 30 years Three Rivers Martial Arts Academy in La Crosse, Wisconsin has hosted a life changing class called W.I.S.E., or Women Initiating Safe Environments. This class has changed the lives of more than 3900 women, and resulted in more than 25 women not only surviving violent attacks, but defeating their attackers. This program changed my life, and has inspired me to form a program to continue the support to women that begins with the W.I.S.E. program. The extra bonus of forming this business, is that it will support Three Rivers Martial Arts Academy in more than one way. We will offer support to the women of W.I.S.E., and the community we serve, but we will also help Three Rivers Martial Arts keep its doors open.
For the thirty years that Master Larry Klahn has owned and operated the martial arts studio, his doors have been open to those needing training, those needing a shoulder, and those in need of a new start. The doors of the studio, and the doors of his office have always been open to those who need to be there. Now, he needs help to keep those doors open.
Over the last three years, the studio, and Master Klahn himself have had to overcome tremendous obstacles. From significant personal health issues, to the flooding of the studio building due to faulty inspection by the City. In these instances Master Klahn has pulled things together, and overcome. Now, he is facing loosing the building that is the home to Three Rivers Martial Arts Academy, and the very home of Master Klahn as well. After the flooding, the insurance company refused to pay the cost of the damages due to the faulty inspection report prior to purchase. So all of the cost of repair and cleaning fell to Master Klahn. Those thousands of dollars put the studio behind in mortgage, and now, the mortgage holder is placing the studio building in foreclosure.
UNLESS WE OPEN A BUSINESS NEXT DOOR IN THE OTHER HALF OF THE BUILDING! The opening of the business in the other half of the building will provide the income needed to move the mortgage to another bank and save the work of the last 30 years. Also, the opportunity to open the doors to a follow up support system to the W.I.S.E. program will open new avenues of encouragement and support to women and children in need of support and services, in the fields of domestic abuse, spousal abuse, rape, child abuse and assault. These services are needed and too often are unseen.
Please help me to change the lives of thousands more women in our area. Master Klahn has saved thousands of women and families in the last 30 years, and in the next twenty he will change the lives of thousands more. Help me to keep the doors of Three Rivers Martial Arts Academy open, help me support those doors and the women who walk through them by opening a support center attached to the studio to continue providing services and support to the women who need them.
