Hello Everyone!
My name is Alexandra Harris and I am currently running for Ms.Philippines USA. If you know me, you know that this is completely outside of my comfort zone, but that's exactly why I want to do it .
First: I'd like to gain more knowledge about myself, attain confidence, and absorb more information about my Filipino Heritage. Growing up in a multiethnic household I was exposed to being open minded and exposed to two diverse minority groups. I was taught to read, write, and speak Tagalog. I want to continue to embrace my culture and eventually represent both minority groups in this upcoming pageant.
Growing up, I never felt completely accepted by either race, and as a young mixed girl I did not have any role models to look up to, to help me realize that it's okay to be mixed. I have matured and learned to accept my multi ethnicities and have created my own platform and environment for such acceptance. I strive to show not just Filipino girls but all young ladies that they should be confident and be prideful of their background, because that's what makes them unique. I want to be and lead as an example to wholeheartedly embrace your culture and embrace where you came from, and pay homage to those who paved the way before us.
I am thrilled to continue on this journey to becoming the next Miss Philippines USA. I hope you follow me along this journey as I learn more about my culture and myself, all while giving back to the community who has made this possible.
