my name is Chelsea and i am fundraising on behalf of my parents who recently had to move home.
My parent had lived in the same 2 bedroom home for 36 years. Myself and my 2 brothers were all raised in our small but beautiful home that we shared many happy memories in.
Over the years myself and my brothers had moved on and my parents were going to finally have some much needed space to enjoy the home they had built with us growing up.
but due to unfortunate circumstances this was not to be the case.
Over the past 10 years my parents have taken on several grandchildren, that would have otherwise become part of the care system.
The children are all loved dearly and my parents provide them with a loving home but this does not come without challenges due to the children being on the autistic spectrum and all have suffered traumatic experiences before being in my parents care.
None of the children were able to share a room due to their complex needs.
Due to the above my parents were forced into having to make the difficult decision to move home 11 months ago. My mum found this particularly difficult to come to terms with and is still struggling today.
although my parents moved to a 4 bedroom home and have the extra space they so desperately needed to accommodate the children’s needs the house they took on was not fit for purpose and in a state of disrepair.
just days after being aloud to move into the house my parents were ask if they still had the keys for their previous home so they could go back there why emergency work was carried out. Unfortunately this was not an option so they had to make do best they could relying on my elderly disabled grandmother for somewhere to stay and prepare food.
Although basic emergency work was carried the work that was still to be done was extensive due to damaged being done why the property was vacant. Some of this damage included stripping of all copper pipe throughout the house, bathroom stolen, kitchen stolen, boiler ripped out and the garden being full of class, china, broken cement and rocks that was then made worse by having topsoil being put over it to hide the debris underneath. This was and still is an accident waiting to happen.
In the 11 months my parents have been there they have spent every spare penny they have trying to make the house a Home for the children. It has been a long hard expensive slog and they are still left with limited kitchen and no usable safe garden ( yes they know they are fortunate to have a garden) but given the children’s complex needs a functional garden would respite to my parents.
So what we are asking for is if anyone could give anything no matter how small to try help me achieve my goal of giving my mum and dad some help in getting a much needed working kitchen and an outside safe space for the children to play and explore.
