My cousin Tracy is a loving mother of three whom has been battling bladder cancer for nearly 2 years. She has had 3 rounds of chemotherapy and is now at a place where she has been offered two options by her doctor.
1. She can undergo a surgical procedure that will require her to remain attached to a Urostomy bag for life or...
2. She can be put on a promising experimental treatment that may possibly offer a new hope to reach remission and possibly skip surgery and the Urostomy bag.
Her doctor has recommended the latter as the best option which Tracy has just begun on 8/21/15, however it is very costly and although she is an army wife with insurance, it is not covered because it is an experimental treatment. Tracy, her husband, and children have invested all their own funds toward beginning this treatment and now money is scarce. There is a great need to continue this important treatment and we are asking all to please help in any way you can, big or small.
Obviously the stress alone from this type of illness is overwhelming, but to add the lack of money for medical care truly brings an added emotional and mental exhaustion to her.
I've let Tracy know that she isn't alone in this. There are many who love and care for her that will not abandon her in her time of need.
The cost of the treatment is $17,325, however she has already put in $5,000 and if she raises $5,000 more the doctors have agreed to make a payment plan with Tracy for the remainder. It would be wonderful if we could raise the full amount (12,325) for her, and we are hopeful, but even the $5,000 would help her plenty to ensure this treatment will continue to be put into action.
