Our dear Alien is in dire need.
Alien was diagnosed with Melanoma on April 1, 2000. It has never gone into remission. Against all odds she has fought this disease with everything she has. After 14 years, our Alien is exhausted. She is fiercely independent and wants to do as much as she can on her own, but it is time to seek assistance.
Chemotherapy is a brutal treatment. It destroys the good cells and it destroys the cancerous cells. It cannot distinguish between them. It weakens bones and causes everything from hair loss to tooth death. As a result our Alien has been battered and beaten beyond exhaustion.
Fortunately – there is Alien Nation and Caturday. Her options are so limited and her financial situation is so depleted that without help – her future will be bleak. She is facing a $10,000 bill to fix the problems chemotherapy caused to her mouth. She is facing eviction as well as the loss of her phone. She cannot purchase a transit pass to get to job interviews.
Anyone in this position would struggle. Many would sink away and allow the negativity to consume them. Our Alien has fought on and with your help will keep fighting.
At this point – everything and anything would help. Even if we raise enough to buy her a bus pass for a few months – it could be just what she needs to get herself back on her feet. It could be enough to get her out from under the bureaucratic red tape that is trying to crush her.
Hope, positivity and inspiration go far in the treatment of someone fighting a debilitating disease. If a five dollar donation gives her the boost to get to the next phase of her life – then it is five dollars well spent.
