Tony's Medical Fund

On December 14, 2017 between 6:00 and 6:15 am Tony collapsed in the garage of his home.  We do not know if he passed out or had a seizure or tripped or got caught up in his bar stool he was sitting on.  He hit a concrete raised piece on the floor and was unconscious.  When he was found by his wife and daughter he was just coming to consciousness.  He was rushed to Penrose Hospital where he was immediately diagnosed with a brain bleed due to his skull being broken.  He went into emergency surgery to stop the bleed.  He has been in the hospital since and continues to get better each day.  He has short-term memory loss and will need rehabilitation.  A long road ahead for him.  He was very lucky!  His daughter stated “26 years as an Infantryman and numerous deployments without injury and then this happens”  Unreal. 

 

He is a decorated US Army Retired Major.  He gave over 26 years of his life to the military.  He is a devoted father and husband.  Tony and Wendy will be married 25 years this coming June.   He is the rock of their family.  He is everything to them.  The thought of living one more day without him is killing Wendy. She quotes: “ I think the reality of what happened is setting in for me and the adrenaline is wearing off.  Every day I feel I have a million highs and million lows.”

 

Tony just started a new job so he has not accrued enough “medical leave” The time he is off work trying to heal will not be compensated and so I am reaching out to hopefully help a fellow comrade, Executive Officer, and friend.  This is so he can rest easy and focus on healing and not financial hardships that would come the family’s way.
