Bria heads to London,UK !

Hi everyone! As you may know, I will be studying abroad in London this Fall! I was recently accepted into a program through my college and I am ecstatic to embark on this journey.

To start my senior year off with a bang, I will be in London for a full semester and just months away from receiving my bachelor's degree in English when I return. During my time away, I will study British literature, travel to nearby countries, network and make the best of my stay. I have never been to Europe before and this is an opportunity that I didn't think was possible until a few months ago, so I'm truly grateful.

Over the past 3 years of my college career, I have been a full-time student, part time employee and have managed to maintain a 3.6 GPA. My days would start early and I would either head to work or school (sometimes both) depending on the day. While body-to-body with other train passengers during rush-hour, running down the street to make it to an early class or returning home after a long day, I would always remind myself why I work so hard: To be the intelligent, go-getting woman I was raised to be, and to have the long-term life of happiness and comfort that I always wanted.

At 20 years old, it is so easy to be care-free and to think only about living in the moment. However, I plan on leaving a legacy that will inspire others in years to come, and for that I need to put in the work now.

Now, I know, with such a focus, you may wonder what I do for fun. Well, I draw and paint (which you can see pictured below), spend time with family and friends (lot's of talking and eating), write, adventure around the city and take in all of its wonders.

As a person who strongly believes in following my goals, being well-rounded, and a positive role-model for others, studying abroad will give me the opportunity to grow and gain knowledge of places that I've only read about, and then I can share my experiences with all of you.

Prior to being accepted into the London program, I tossed the idea around in my head for a while, even after I had already applied. Do I really want to go away? This will be my first time away from home for longer than a few weeks. And in another country? Am I ready? But after a few days, the idea settled in and I realized I am more than ready, more than capable, and I owe it to myself to capitalize on this amazing opportunity.

For this semester in London, I humbly ask for your help. Coming from a single-parent household, funds can get pretty tight and this trip, though amazing, will be a whopping $12,000, just for school expenses alone (tuition, dorm room fee, program fee etc). Aside from that, I will need to purchase plane tickets, healthcare, a visa, and the list goes on. I know it's a huge number, and I have a limited amount of time to raise it, but I would really appreciate your donations because this trip will be life-changing...I can feel it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and thank you in advance for your help!

Much appreciated,
Bria
