Janelle & Maya Moco CA Fire Recovery

Donation protected
Janelle Moco and her daughter Maya need your help. On September 12, 2015 the Valley Fire in Lake County, CA obliterated their newly rented Middletown home, 99% of their belongings, and their community/workplace, Harbin Hot Springs. Left with only a car, just a few clothes and Maya's favorite toys, they took refuge at their parents' small home in Monterey. Currently looking for work, a home for them and their pets, and a good school for Maya's special needs, they are just in the re-envisioning stage. Janelle is a certified massage therapist with 19 years experience working in spa, private practice and corporate bodywork. Maya is a spirited 15-year-old girl on the Autism spectrum. They have just located, via Facebook, their missing dog, Ginny, and as of yet have not been allowed into the fire zone to find their cat, Azlan.

In order to start over again, somewhere with an adequate economy and school system, they will need funds to rent in a new, more expensive area, probably Monterey close to family. All furniture and household items are gone; they need these as well as clothing. Janelle lost her massage table as well as other necessary business tools. We all watched these fires in horror this week, and many of imagined what it would be like to lose home, pets, all photos, all clothing, everything. And then many of us wondered how in our own way we might help amid the devastation.  Here is our opportunity! Let's help Maya and Janelle get their feet back on the ground and start the starting-over. Every donation, EVERY one, no matter how small, will make a huge difference for 2 lovely people who have lost almost everything, are in need of life's very basic needs, yet repeatedly say how grateful they are to be safe. I encourage you to imagine the devastation you would feel losing everything, the challenge up picking up the pieces, and give what you can.

(My name is Greta and I grew up with Janelle and touched base through the years as we both moved to Northern California. As soon as I saw the fires on the news, I wondered about many friends living there, praying they and their homes were ok. Unfortunately, Janelle learned Sunday that her house and all of Middletown had been destroyed and posted on FaceBook to let everyone know they were safe but had lost everything. I decided then to make this request on her behalf, especially for her daughter who has very important needs. Please let me know if I can provide any further information as you consider helping Maya and Janelle!)
