Service Dog For Emily

Donation protected
As many of you know our daughter Emily was diagnosed with Type One diabetes at age 6.  Now at 9, Emily is making great strides to live a happy and healthy life in spite of the obstacles she faces.  Emily must check her blood sugar 8-10 times a day and must have insulin with every morsel of food she eats.  Though this could easily get her down, she does not let it stop her from being the active and funloving girl that we love so very much.  Many of you have so generously supported us each year in rasing funds for JDRF.  In lieu of this cause, this year our family would like for you to consider helping Emily directly to improve her quality of life and live safer with Type One.  We have researched and found a local experienced service dog trainer, Cathy Dorchuck, who has helped us find a dog that will be trained to detect Emily's high and low blood sugar levels even before they are tested.  This dog will be a certified diabetic alert dog that will help Emily stay safe and hopefully allow our family to have more restful nights and alert us when Emily's blood sugars are out of range and ulitmately dangerous for her.  Any funds raised will go directly to the cost of her dog and to the year long training that this dog and our family will undergo.  If money raised exceeds our goal, we will be donating those funds to JDRF to find a cure for Type One.  We appreciate you so very much!
