My Friend Karla

Karla had been having "weird pains" for a several months, but like most of us do, she told herself it was probably nothing, and it could wait until she was able to obtain health insurance. As soon as her health plan became effective, she went in for testing. Her worst fears were realized when the doctor diagnosed her with Colon Cancer.
You don't have to know Karla well, to know she is a friend to everyone she meets. She greets everyone with a warm smile and an open heart. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, she has kept her positive outlook on life. She often tells me "God didn't bring me this far to have it end like this".
Karla manages the coffee shop, at North Bend Medical Center, and vows to return to work as soon as she possibly can, and has even been known to work a couple hours here and there, just to stay in the swing of things. However, not being able to work has made it difficult to keep up with the almost daily co-pays and medical bills.
We all know that treatment takes a toll, both physically and financially. This page was created to help support Karla during her journey.
