Slingshots December Goal of $50,000!
Bob Anderson is raising funds for Slinghsots Teen Center in Chicago. This year we have a goal of raising $50,000 during the month of December. Please help Slingshots continue to impact the teens in Chicago.
SLINGSHOTS - Helping teens hit their target.
SLINGSHOTS is helping teens with:
1. Education. Student leadership. Homework spaces, computer labs
2. Vocational Training. Carpentry, Fashion merchandising .
3. Emotional support. The teen years are challenging to navigate.
4. Spiritual guidance. Daily Bible challenge. Bridget to a church AWANA program where teens hear a Bible lesson, get involved in a small group and memorize Bible verses.
5. Exercise. Teens are involved in a basketball program, daily gym exercise, rock climbing wall, ping pong, etc.
We started our 4th school year of Slingshots in September. 450 new teens came to Slingshots this year alone .
1650 students have attended Slingshots
2910 items of clothing have been given out to teens
1810 volunteer hours by adults
1175 volunteer hours by students
Imagine if we could have a Slingshots in all 77 neighborhoods of Chicago.
It will cost about $2.5 million a year to have a Slingshots in all 77 neighborhoods. We would like to partner with the local churches and the use of their facilities and invest in people to organize and develop Slingshots type programs after school and in the summer. Please consider helping us grow into new neighborhoods where we can impact the life of teens. We can get there. It will not be in one year. It will take some time, hard work and the generosity of people, businesses, grants and the blessings of God for us to not only reach this target but to do it year after year.
