A young couple recover from a devastating fire

Donation protected
In the early morning of February 23rd my 21-year-old son, Tyler awoke to discover the apartment he shares with his long-term girlfriend and her special needs baby ablaze. Thankfully their baby was at her father's home and Tyler was able to get himself and his girlfriend to safety. As his girlfriend, Emma, called 911, he realized no one from the other 7 apartments in the building was evacuating. Tyler and Emma went back into the apartment complex, awakened and alerted their still-sleeping neighbors and as a result, no one was injured.
Unfortunately, Tyler and Emma's apartment as well as everything they own is a complete loss, including all the items for their little girl, whose medical condition requires several pieces of durable medical equipment as well as single-use medical items. Very few items, mostly clothing, were able to be salvaged as anything that smells of smoke will be unsafe for use around their daughter.
Tyler and Emma have renters insurance policies but are tragically under-insured. Outrageously their policy covers only $2,800 of their personal property.
