A Wounded Warriors Adaptive Journey

Donation protected
Adaptive sports has become a significant recovery and healing tool in my arsenal to assist me in achieving my new normal. While on active duty, I had access to adaptive equipment and programs that augmented my rehabilitative and reconditioning process.

Now as a veteran, I have experienced tougher times getting access to adaptive equipment. I am trying to raise money to purchase adaptive equipment in order to further my recovery and continue to pursue an active lifestyle through physical fitness and competitive athletics. A lifestyle that improves my confidence and quality of life.

The money raised here will go mostly to a recumbent bike, my physical injuries no longer allow me to ride a traditional upright bike. I am also looking into a gym membership that has a pool, as well as other adaptive training equipment.

I just recently came back from Fort Benning where I competed in the Atlantic Warrior Game trials. It felt great to be back among other Soldiers, and to feel like a Soldier again. The adaptive sport events I competed in helped remind me that my injuries did not hinder me, it motivated me.

Although my injuries prevented me from continuing my career in the Army, the adaptive reconditioning program at Fort Belvoir helped strengthen my body and mind. It also helped me understand what my new 100 percent was and how to achieve it.
