A Well for Gituine

Donation protected
For years now, our time has been spent educating others about the need to end the clean water crisis. We have been doing our best to get the word out and raise funds to help those who need a chance at quality of life. Well, on 9/16/20 a friend of ours in Kenya posted pictures of his village struggling with extreme drought. It's the picture in the main page. A massive line of yellow water cans lining the streets in Meru county. With much prayer and many conversation, we felt a calling to do something about this.

The village of Gituine is experiencing an extreme drought this season. The village relies on women and children traveling an average of 3-4 miles to search for water with 5 gallons containers on their backs. Others use donkeys and human driven carts to travel to the river in search of this precious commodity. They either go to the the nearest well where they wait for hours in line just to fill up and walk the miles back to their home. Others fill up their water fetched from rivers, streams and pans. The poor quality is due to contamination from farm chemicals, fertilizers, open defecation, use by livestock and wild-life. The source of water has a direct implication to the quality of water. The village of Gituine populated with 9000 residents. The village closes schools frequently due to the lack of water. About 5% of households use chlorine based water treatments purchased from pharmacies. Another 5% boil their water before drinking. This leaves 90% of the community to find their own ways to access water to drink. The nearest clinic is several miles away from the village. Simple sicknesses that can be treated locally still end up taking the lives of kids and older people due to accessibility.

The average farmer makes $2.00 per day for his family. With the lack of rainfall, it is especially difficult to make money to provide. No water, no plants, no food, animals can't eat and people will perish.

We can change this today. I am trying to raise $20k to fund a well in the village of Gituine (Kenya). Anything helps. You are not only providing the access to clean water. You are also allowing the children to have a quality of life. You are keeping the schools open and smiles on their faces.

Every day, we lose the life of young children due to the lack of clean water. This needs to stop today. Pray with me. Donate with me. Impact lives with me.
