<div><a href="https://www.cafeonvine.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cafe on Vine</a>My dad passed away five years ago this summer. Quite the disciplined person, he competed in marathons and triathlons despite an (unknown) heart condition. Even after a double value replacement and heart infection, he returned to running, completing a 5K and then a half marathon. Dad set an example of setting goals and working towards them and in his earlier days, he taught me about serving the poor and the concept of social justice.

<div>In order to do this half marathon, I needed a purpose. What I thought of was being sponsored per mile, with all money going to a worthy cause. So $1 a mile is $13! If you are feeling particularly passionate about this cause, two dollars a mile is a donation of $26. Every bit helps!

<div>Café on Vine's mission is to promote the dignity of each person by feeding the hungry and advocating for an end to hunger in our community. Volunteers provide daily support and assistance with meal preparation ... alongside a small staff. I have volunteered, and deeply felt the sense of community and welcome to all.
