A Walk For Justice

Tax deductible
Please join me in saving lives. On February 24, 2023, I will embark upon a 60-mile walk to raise money to combat the illicit fentanyl epidemic that is poisoning and killing our loved ones in record numbers. Fentanyl, a drug 100 times more potent than morphine, is now the NUMBER ONE cause of death in this country for ages 18 to 45. Any donation will help make an impact.

Our Story
On December 22, 2019, Alexandra Capelouto came home from college to spend Christmas with her family. Hours later, our lives were forever shattered. Join me in the fight to save other families from this horrifying and senseless fate.

Poison for Profit
On the evening of December 22, 2019, Alexandra purchased what she believed to be Oxycodone, a prescription painkiller. Instead, the drug dealer knowingly risked her life by delivering counterfeit Oxycodone pills containing a lethal amount of illicit fentanyl. Alexandra, affectionately known as “Alex,” ingested just half of one pill before bed and was dead within minutes.

My Crusade
Since that fateful night in 2019, I have been fighting to hold drug dealers criminally responsible for knowingly causing the deaths of thousands of Americans by disguising lethal doses of fentanyl as standard prescription and recreational drugs and then selling those counterfeits to unsuspecting victims for profit. As one prosecutor aptly said, “They know it’s lethal; they just don’t care.”

Tragedy Leads to Change
The arrest of the person responsible for poisoning — and thus murdering — Alexandra was a significant victory in the crusade to hold drug dealers accountable … a victory not only for my family but also for countless families impacted by fentanyl poisonings. Soon, the perpetrator of Alexandra’s death will face a judge for sentencing in Riverside County Federal Court after taking a plea deal. This is the first federal case ever in Riverside County where a drug dealer has been held accountable for causing the death of another person. But the fight is not over.

A Walk for Justice
I will attend the sentencing hearing by walking 60 miles (approximately 20 miles per day) to raise funds and promote awareness for the non-profit organization, DrugInducedHomicide.org. The walk will begin on what would have been Alex's 24th birthday February 24th at a park near my Temecula home. It will conclude with a final 0.4-mile walk on February 27th from The Mission Inn in Riverside to the federal courthouse. Please consider joining me at any point along the walk and or the sentencing hearing. Route and live tracking will be shown at druginducedhomicide.org. All proceeds from A Walk for Justice will be used to continue the fight for countless families across the nation.
