A Veteran's Fight Against Cancer: Ben McGovern
Donation protected
My father, Ben McGovern, was diagnosed earlier this year with gastric cancer and our family was anticipating a surgery this month that would hopefully put him into remission following weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. Unfortunately, when they opened him up to complete the procedure the cancer was more advanced than expected and the surgeon did not feel he could safely and effectively remove the entire tumor. He is a beloved father of two, devoted husband of 35 years, and extraordinary friend to many people. He spent 21 years serving in the Air Force to defend this nation and never asks for any help, he is often the one trying to support and uplift others. We live in a rural area where medical treatments for this cancer are extremely limited. We are hoping, and with your help will go to MD Anderson in order to receive better treatment options and hopefully surgery. The insurance we have will not cover any of the cost associated with this. My father is a fighter and is the most caring, compassionate man I know. I ask you to donate so that my father does not have to worry about the well being or financial stability of the family and can focus on winning his battle with cancer. Everything helps, and my family and I thank every one of you for the hope you are giving to our family.
