A Tide To Lift All (Food Trucks) in 805

Because a rising tide lifts us all. And, a blanket noncompetition law bars us all.

I've tried to look at this shitshow involving a specific Grover Beach business with a deeper insight. Otherwise, it's just a run-of-the-mill crash of two small businesses who both failed to communicate with one another.

Otherwise, the citation given to me on my first infraction while operating Feed My Seoul is just another costly oversight in Doing Business.

I did not know there was a law in Grover Beach prohibiting street vending by mobile kitchens AT ALL TIMES. I found out on 10/1, was cited on 10/1. Me, a restaurant on wheels. During the pandemic.

And, while I respect the spirit of the law in protecting the investments of brick-and-mortor businesses, a respectful distance should be maintained rather than an all out ban.

I've no idea what this will cost me as the Officer checked NO to Correctable Offense. We thought a grand (on Grand! Too soon?) but really we're just spitballing.

My court date is February 2, 2021 at 830A in Traffic Court, 214 S 16th St, Grover Beach.

Let's fight against the barriers to mobile, women, colored entrepreneurship. Let's undue archaic laws so the people can get access to fresh, innovative, creative cuisine.

With the rest of the funds, let's change this law so the next Little Guy up against Big Business has a chance. An hour window, even, it really doesn't take much more to pull up, sell out, and roll out. And, the long-term benefit in increased traffic to surrounding businesses offers opportunities to turn sales.

And, this means MORE sales tax revenue in Grover Beach, while in turn benefits Grovereens with a better grade of public service, in addition to diversity in food options.

Grover Beach can be a place where businesses don't die epic deaths, but thrive as ongoing economic concerns unreliant on government handouts.

Let's organize so the wrong laws can be righted, and taste buds all over Grover protected from the tyranny of a city-wide food truck ban.

I'm not one looking for handouts. It's not my style.

And, times are hard, but if you could just donate a buck, or five, to show solidarity, our strength in numbers.

Whatever you can to help out the truckers who drive to places you want to be, to delight, to show love in bowls, buns, whatever may be.

Whatever our flavor, we're the people feeding, nurturing, loving you from afar even when you're not around.

Stand TOGETHER, strong TOGETHER!! #805Strong
