A sustainable, ethical education opportunity

Donation protected

I am Anousha, a 21 year old artist from the UK, wondering how I can make a difference in addressing the environmental and societal challenges of these times. It can all be quite overwhelming to think about, but clearly it is better to face these challenges than stick our heads in the sand. As young people we must initiate change for all of our futures and it must happen now.

How do we, and how do I, prepare for what is coming (and what is already here)? Can we just continue on our conventional educational and career paths, as if the future ahead will look much like the past? This seems unlikely, to say the least.

To help me figure out how I can contribute to addressing our many global challenges and making the world a better place, I am very excited to have the opportunity to join the next cohort of The International Youth Initiative Program (YIP) in Sweden, a 10 month residential societal entrepreneurship programme for 18-28 years olds, starting in August 2024.

To afford to attend, I am going to be doing everything I can over the coming months to earn and save money from my art, jewellery making, and from additional hospitality jobs.

Can you also help me get to YIP?

About YIP

YIP aims to strengthen young people’s capacity to take personal and collective initiative in the face of current global realities. It offers a holistic educational programme that expands global understanding and personal awareness. A cohort of 20-40 participants learn, create and organize alongside experts, facilitators and innovators. The curriculum provides a platform for young people to expand their understanding, develop their fullest potential and find their authentic tasks in society and the world.
The term “societal entrepreneur” as used by YIP describes people and initiatives that base their actions in service of society and understand the world as one interconnected living organism. This paradigm points to the interconnectedness of global systems and new ways of working toward a more equitable world. Through allowing young people to explore this paradigm and with it face and develop themselves and society, YIP seeks to support these young people to become leaders of a new, more sustainable and integrated lifestyle and future.

Why YIP?

By joining the YIP community I hope to overcome the sense of overwhelm and focus on making change together. At YIP I will learn about myself. I will develop a deep understanding of the global challenges we face today and how I, as a young person, can offer my best efforts to inspire change. I will also spend six weeks on a placement somewhere in the world, learning, working on the land and striving to create a better home for us all.

I hope to learn about the land, to work hard on changing my thinking patterns, and face challenges with confidence. I’m excited to meet people of varying ages and backgrounds who come together with a shared drive for change and growth both personal and global.
