<div>My dad is on dialysis and has diabetes. Nearly a year ago, he suffered a stroke that changed everything. It affected his speech and made everyday life much harder. Since that day, our family has been suffering, trying to stay strong, praying, and doing everything we can to care for him with the little we have.

<div>Recently, his health took another turn. About two months ago, doctors told us he needed his gallbladder removed because it was badly infected. Instead of being able to operate right away, they placed a drainage bag to help temporarily. He was supposed to have surgery soon after, but when we tried to schedule it at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis we got denied, the  hospital told us we need to pay a $6,000 down payment before they can perform the surgery. It’s heartbreaking to see him in pain and know that the only thing keeping him from proper care is money.

<div>For almost a year, we’ve been quietly fighting this battle alone, trying not to ask for help out of embarrassment and pride. But now, we can’t keep it in anymore we need help from our community.

<div>My dad continues to go through dialysis, living with a drainage bag and constant pain, but he still smiles and thanks God for every day. He has always been loving man who never gave up, and now it’s our turn to fight for him.

<div>Mi papá está en diálisis y es diabético. Hace casi un año, sufrió una embolia (derrame cerebral) que cambió por completo su vida. Le afectó el habla y desde entonces, cada día ha sido una lucha. Durante este tiempo hemos estado sufriendo en silencio, tratando de ser fuertes, orando y cuidándolo con lo poco que tenemos.

<div>Hace unos dos meses, los doctores nos dijeron que necesitaba una cirugía para remover la vesícula, ya que tenía una infección muy grave. En lugar de poder operarlo de inmediato, le colocaron una bolsa de drenaje para aliviar la infección temporalmente. Cuando intentamos programar la cirugía en el hospital Community North de Indianápolis, nos dijeron que no podían atenderlo porque solo tiene Medicaid de emergencia.

<div>Nos están pidiendo un depósito de $6,000 dólares antes de poder operarlo. Es muy triste verlo sufrir, sabiendo que la única razón por la que no puede recibir atención médica es el dinero.
