A Song For Kylah

Donation protected
In 2018 it felt like the impossible happened when I received the phone call that my older sister Kylah passed away. When we were kids, we discussed what it would be like to have families, made plans to travel the world together and spend our last years on earth eating pastries. I never imagined I’d be in the position of planning her funeral at the age of 27.

It’s been three years since my sister has passed and I have learned that grieving is a process that evolves and changes. Just as love has many shades and colors, grief has different stages and emotions, and it is a lifelong journey. I've also learned that when someone passes our relationship with them remains; and the best way to connect to them is to honor their lives and celebrate the person they were when they were with us.

For this reason, I am raising funds to produce and create a music video for a song I wrote for Kylah that outlines her beautiful qualities and celebrates that she is now in a better place. While The Way That I Do (the first song I wrote to honor my sister) focused on the uniqueness of our bond and the heartbreak of losing her. This song highlights my gratitude for her life.

The process of creating this song will include the following: production, vocal recordings, and creating a music video with a team. Kylah absolutely adored the arts and passionately supported artistic projects and friends more than anyone else I know. I’d be incredibly grateful for your consideration to donate to the creation of this song, and music video. By donating to this project, you will not only be celebrating and honoring Kylah’s life but giving yourself and others a tool for processing grief. Few things heal or enable us to feel the depths of our emotions like music and art.

In addition, a percent of funds will go to Covenant House, a charity that addresses Homelessness, which was a social issue Kylah was very passionate about.

Thank you so much for your consideration and generosity.

 Love,

 Kelsey
