On August 12, 2020 I suffered from an eye stroke and lost my right peripheral vision in both my eyes. I was reading and doing research on my laptop, stood up and felt light headed as if I was going to pass out, my vision went dark and took several seconds to come back and when it did it never came back in my right side. I immediately went to my Father and told him what was going on and he suggested I lay down as I might have been getting an ocular migraine. When I woke up the next morning my vision had not returned and I went straight to the emergency where they did a CT Scan that came back normal, the Dr assuming something was in my eye obstructing my vision sent me to an Ophthalmologist where she did several tests and showed me that I had lost my right peripheral vision in both of my eyes. I was then suggested to see a neurologist asap. Upon seeing the neurologist and having several more tests done he informed me I had suffered from an Eye Stroke which normally happens in people reaching their mid 70s, me being in only 31 he said he had never seen this happen in someone so young. Following my diagnosis I had to be off work at the request of my doctor, I received 2 weeks PTO and I have been out of work for over 3 months now. I am falling behind immensely on my bills and keeping my myself and my animals fed. This was an unexpected and traumatic experience for me and anything at this time will help, all that I need is help getting back up on my feet because I cannot seem to get ahead at the moment and being my age and going through this has taken such a toll on my mental health. I have made numerous attempts at qualifying for California State Disability and I have not heard anything from them, I’ve applied online I’ve sent in a hang written application, I’ve tried calling and nothing has gone through I am not even sure how long it will take or if I will even get approved. My PCP has still not allowed me to return to work and at this point I don’t know how long it will be till I can get back to my normal life. The only good news I have is that my eye sight is slowly come back, I still see a line of white film and sometimes color where my blindspot is but I think this is because I’ve gotten use to seeing it but my neurologist is confidant I will regain my vision fully because of my age so I am hopeful that it will with time come back fully. Thank you to everyone for reading this and anything at this point helps and I appreciate every
single one of you. Happy Holidays!!
