A small Price for Peace of Mind

Donation protected
I am desperately trying to raise money for my friend. This is her story.
Having suffered since her teenage years as a result of childhood trauma. At age 13 she found out she had a prolapsed bowel which had been misdiagnosed as piles, told it was normal she learnt to adapt. Until five years later she collapsed and was rushed to Mayday Hospital. Where her first of 68 operations was to take place. Hopeful at first that the damage could be repaired her bowel was hitched up and sewn to her pelvis. Within six months later it was clear this was unsuccessful. Undeterred and utterly determined the same operation was attempted 12 times over. Causing further irreparable damage. Left with no alternative than to take part of the bowel away more surgeries were endured.
Scarred emotionally and phyiscally. There have been numerous procedures to remove scar tissue which still causes unbearable discomfort and at times has stuck to other organs.
The one thing that always kept her going was to have a family of her own. Then at 29 she thought she was pregnant, very excited and ready once again to give her all to another. My beautiful friend was once again cheated out of a opportunity for health and happiness. It wasn’t to be and it turned out that she had a 28 pound ovarian cyst which was only successfully removed after two more operations. Devastatingly this included a complete hysterectomy, leaving absolutely no chance of ever having children - she was distraught. But my friend of 20 years wasn’t going to let another loss define her. She soon started thinking about fostering. With my friend where there is a will there is a way.
But without her health she has been unable to pursue this. Constant blockages and being rushed into hospital on a regular basis, meant she wasn’t well enough to take on any responsibility. Not able to eat due to chronic pain she went down to six stone. Eventually a temporary stoma was made from what little bowel remained. Despite her fears my lovely friend had no option but to have an ileostomy permanently shortly after. This too had be attempted for a second time before it was fully functional. For a short while this was working well and my resilient friend began once again to adapt to life.
Which brings us up to the present day. Recently my friend was told she had a deep and corrosive abscess that has been poisoning her for years once again despite regular and repeated visits to her specialist she was told that this was an almost expected symptom of her chronic condition. That was until her body’s pain threshold broke all previous limits and sent her into hospital with a potentially life threatening infection.
And so she is once again at the mercy of her condition. She can’t go anywhere she’s in agonising pain. The reason we want to raise money is so one final operation to put right what frankly has been wrong for so long. My friend has suffered her whole life without complaint but she can’t take anymore.
The last few times she has been in hospital the after care has been shocking. And as a result she has now been diagnosed with PTSD.Her surgeon Mr Swift knows her inside out. It would be too risky for someone else to do surgery. But for him to be able to do it she would have to go to Mayday which she says she would rather die than go back there. In order to minimise the time she has to spend there we want to raise 7,500 so she can be transferred to nearby Shirley Oaks for recovery and rehabilitation.
Through all this my dearest friend has been resolute and carried on regardless. Her kindness and compassion is admirable. And we are counting on kind Samaritans to give my friend the priceless gift of peace of mind as she looks to endure what we hope to be her last operation.
Please what ever you can spare will be gratefully receive so that my friend my endure once more without having to relive the trauma of the past and make a new start.

With thanks
