A Sister In Need: Emergency!

Donation protected

Let me tell you about a friend of mine!

I met Gaby during my graduate program at Iowa State University. The first class I ever had with her was one taught by Jason Salisbury, part of a number of Social Justice related courses for my program and the Student Affairs program that ran parallel. Gaby and I would sit next to each other and gossip about the guys she was curving on Tinder or some other domestic stuff- It was the highlight of some of the rougher weeks. I feel like we always connected!

I would learn she was in a sorority, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Inc.- a Silver Rose! She inspired me to join my own fraternity and even sniffed out that I was on-line before my reveal. I'm grateful for the fond memories and good times that we shared, and it makes it even more heartening for me now to try my best to offer her a hand in a time of need.

Gaby suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, she was diagnosed shortly after graduating and after our time together in class. Currently it is very difficult for her to get around unassisted and bills have started to pile up since a dispute with a previous employer. If I've ever met someone who deserved a helping hand, it's her so today I'm asking for your help to get her through a rough period in her life.

Gaby's friendship is passionate and steadfast. Last winter, when I was preparing to move to Florida, she braved ice while walking with a cane to come be in community with my other friends celebrating our good times together. She always feels it's important to show up for people she cares about, family, friends, sisters, and I'm gonna show up today and I hope you'll join me!

Gaby just needs help getting through this month- this means covering her rent, bills, food, and a walking device as she can no longer manage with just a cane. The reason I'm making this plea in her place is because I care about her and know how much sometimes it hurts to have to admit we're struggling alone. I've been there and every time I have to ask for that kind of support and trust, it feels like swallowing hot iron. I'll save her some grief and maybe show her how much a community can care.

Please, please, PLEASE, share this out to your communities. Every little bit helps a ton!

Thank you in advance & Much Love!
