Michael Mack needs are help.

As a sister concerned for my brothers wellbeing, I’m making this plea with hopes of helping my brother, Michael Mack, get back on his feet again.

Over the years Michael has been away from home, in the last few years moving back to Kalamazoo from San Diego where he lived for about 30 years. While in San Diego Michael had many successful endeavors which allowed him to help others and live his life to the fullest. Being successful helped Michael to live a lot of his dreams and cross many items off his bucket list! Maybe he hasn’t swam with dolphins yet, but he’s had many memorable experiences in life!

Michael has been involved in the LGBT ️‍ community both in San Diego and Kalamazoo, opening safe spaces for LGBT folks to be together and be free to be themselves! He’s also helped fund many charities over the years, including organizing  Gala dinner at the marche on Washington DC. His generosity and empathy over the years has not gone unnoticed.

Approximately seven years ago, Michael sustained a debilitating back injury causing him to be disabled and unable to work. Michael & I did make a heroic attempt at keeping the LGBT community together in Kalamazoo by buying Metro Nightclub, but after awhile the cost was more than he could afford to keep it open. Once again, Michaels selflessness and pride in his community were his top priority.

Over the past summer of 2017 Michael purchased a home in the Edison Neighborhood that he owned when he was 17 yrs old. Michael sold the home at 20 yrs old in order to pursue his dreams in California. Some thirty years later he has repurchased the home on a land contract, only this time its condemned due to electrical, heating/cooling and plumbing that it needs done to make it habitable. His friends have been so kind to donate time over the last four months to get the house in habitable conditions. With renovation financing falling threw after the purchase of the house, the house Is still uninhabitable. Little by little he has been renovating the house when his finances allow him to, but he is struggling. This is the reason I’m reaching out asking for your help.

Michaels health, both physically and mentally has been rough on him, but he’s not one to ask for help, all be it due to his own pride. I want this fundraiser to be successful to get Michael out of the pop-up camper he’s currently living in, in his garage, and get him into the house that he longs to live in again.

Paying forward the kindness and generosity Michael has shown over the years is what I’m hoping to gain for my brother in order to see the light in his eyes again! Michael has been struggling with depression and anxiety and I feel that his living situation isn’t helping. Michael is so independent that he is not willing to ask for help, but he really could use the help.

All pride aside, I’m asking for your help. Whether it be $2.00 or $10.00, the ultimate goal is to get him inside his house. Michigan winters are very bitter and I’m worried for his health, sanity, and safety. Please, instead of donating money to the car behind you in the fast food drive thru, would you please help by donating it to help my brother?

There are no words that could express the gratitude to you for anything you can do to help. Thank you in advance for considering and may God bless you for your help!
