Hi, my name is Sophie. I am fundraising because I am a single mum who is working part time for the NHS and studying to become a Psychotherapist. I am struggling to afford a living for myself and my gorgeous little girl due to the cost of living crisis in the UK.
Money is a constant worry for me, and keeps me up at night. I am always trying to find ways to earn more money and work harder, but unfortunately due to my circumstances I am unable to earn much more than I am now.
I am in my 4th year (of my 5 year degree) in Applied and Clinical Psychology with Anglia Ruskin University. I started this degree in 2020 when I realised all I want is to work for the NHS and help people. I am so passionate about mental health and wellbeing. I believe everyone deserves to have access to mental health services and therapists in a timely manner and to the highest standard. We are all dealing with so much chaos and crisis in the world, and life is so difficult for so many. I want to train to become a Psychotherapist that can support people going through mental health difficulties and try and give people a safe space to express themselves and figure out who they are and what they want.
I have studied this degree whilst working full time, whilst pregnant, whilst breastfeeding and looking after my little girl. I have done this degree whilst going through a tough divorce from an abusive husband. I am so determined to complete my degree and work as hard as possible to make my dream come true.
However, I am currently really struggling to afford to do my degree and work part time, and look after my girl. I don't want to give up on my dream, but my options are limited and I am not funded via student loans (part time students don't get living costs paid).
So I am asking you, kind stranger, to donate whatever money you can so that I can continue to pursue my dream of becoming a psychotherapist. You have no idea the happiness and joy you would bring by donating even a small amount. This money will go towards my food bill for myself and my girl, living costs, clothes and necessities needed for day to day. Enabling me to continue to complete my degree and be one step closer to becoming a Psychotherapist.
I am so grateful for your time taken to read this. Sending you my best wishes whether you donate or not.
Lots of love, Sophie x
