A Service Dog for Dallin

Donation protected
I wish everyone had the chance to meet someone as special as Dallin. He has a heart-melting smile and a quirky sense of humour.  He lives with his hardworking and widowed mama Robyn, and his tough as nails big sister Kensi. Dallin adores his family and works so hard to succeed in school. He loves animals, video games, lego, and can rattle off so many interesting facts that every conversation with him allows you to learn something new! This family is near and dear to my heart and they need our help.

You see, Dallin has some pretty big struggles. He was diagnosed with Autism, Anxiety, Depression and ADHD. Thats already a lot for a young boy to battle, but Dallin also lost his dad several years ago to his battle with mental health. Over the last few years Dallins struggles have become much more complex and potentially life threatening for him. He has been supported by an incredible team and has been recommended (and qualified!) for a service dog. This dog would be life-changing and provide desperately needed companionship and socialization, while also helping him cope with self harm, anxiety, stress and aggression.

His loving family has tirelessly searched for programs that would help provide funding for service dogs, but the need is great. After more than a year of searching, they were told that waitlists are full and these organization are not taking on new applications. Dallin needs support and time is working against us. We need to do everything we can to help keep him safe to live a fulfilling life.

Dallin has been fortunate enough to be accepted into a program through Aspen Service Dogs here in Edmonton. The full cost for a highly qualified service dog is $25,000 with a $5,000 deposit required before the process can move forward. Once the deposit is received, Dallin would be matched with a dog and the training would begin.  This organization guarantees that he will have his personal service dog within 24 months of the initial deposit. Aspen service dogs require two years of training and once Dallin has been matched, he will become a part of the training. Robyn will require two weeks off work in order to train with Dallin and the service dog.

Robyn has exhausted all other options for a funded service dog and has been hesitant to ask for support with fundraising to make this dream a reality. However, as a single mother working full-time, she simply can not do this alone.

Robyn is a fighter. There is nothing that she wouldn't do in order to support her children and help Dallin live a fulfilling and enriched life. She loves her kids more than anything in this world.

We, her friends, as well as Dallin's physicians, are rallying behind her and are hoping to raise funds so they can continue to move forward with matching Dallin with a service dog we KNOW will change his life.  A service dog acts as a bridge that brings success to kids like Dallin out in the world.

Please join us in supporting this campaign! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
