A Service Dog for Anna

We created this campaign to help Anna raise funds towards a service animal.

Anna is 10 years old and she was born with Spina Bifida. Due to her disability, balance and mobility is very difficult for her and she works especially hard at standing. If she does not have someone next to her she constantly steps to stay standing. She does use a wheelchair for distance but her first choice is to walk and we want to encourage her and keep her on her feet as long as we can. As she is growing quickly, like any child, mobility is becoming increasingly difficult for her. 

We began to research service animals several years ago. Everything from miniature horses (Anna’s first choice- where do we even begin!)  to service dogs for balance and support. But we were shocked at the high cost it is. The average price is anywhere from $20,000-$50,000.  This high cost tends to cover the cost of the puppy, training, some veterinarian services and also any service animal equipment that we may need. 

The other issue we have is with living in Wyoming we are going to have to travel to train with the service animal- anywhere from two weeks to four, some programs more.  It is quite a process and has an incredible amount of fees and time spent with both Anna, the service dog and a trainer. 

With that said, and with encouragement from friends... we begin this fundraiser. In hopes that we can support Anna, and keep her on her feet with a trusted companion.
