For The Fem In You® Needs A Physical Location

For The Fem In You® launched in Richmond, Virginia in 2019 as an organization focused on creating safe spaces for WOC inclusive of the LGBTQUIA+ community. In the last 4 years, we've facilitated programming across the country that has held space for highlighting women from several walks of life. With no corporate funding, we've managed to create "For The Fem In You Fest", a ceremony held to honor women working behind the scenes in careers like education, wellness, maternal health, arts, and music spaces. "For The Fem in You Fest" has been held 3 times in Richmond Virginia, and Los Angeles California. Fem-Shop LA was the first Retail Residency created in LA, housing over 20 WOC-owned businesses under one roof on Melrose Avenue. The"The Afro-Vegan Social" was launched in 2022 at the Institute of Contemporary Art at VCU to normalize eating healthier foods, amidst an afro-futuristic fashion show with afro-beats music. Within the Afro-Vegan Social, we're able to highlight local vegan chefs/restaurants, up-and-coming designers, and emphasize afro-beat music in a community-driven atmosphere. Our weekly activation known as WCWednesdays creates a safe space specifically for women working in the performing arts sector. We provide a local 3 piece band, a DJ, host and an inviting location where artists can share their talents with an audience. Our most recent program has been the creation of "BLACK AF", a celebration of Black History. During this event, we create safe space for local WOC-owned businesses and performing artists to share their gifts and talents.

It's time for us to have our own location. A brick-and-mortar dedicated to providing safe and equitable space for woc-owned small businesses and performing artists located in RICHMOND, VIRGINIA is long overdue. There have been many hardships for artists and small businesses who haven't been able to sustain themselves following our most recent global pandemic. This space is the answer that many need to house their businesses, cultivate their own events, and express themselves freely. We have our eyes on some beautiful spaces in the Richmond Area, and simply need your help to raise the capital to acquire our first location. This location will shine brightly for thousands of businesses we've amassed in our network over the past few years. Please share our efforts with EVERYONE.
