A Ramp for Kristy

10 years ago, I was diagnosed with Leukemia; a year and half later it came back. After many rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant I am cancer free, but the treatment was hard on my body and has left me chronically weak and exhausted. A few years back I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and my mobility scooter has become essential for me to live a relatively normal life. I can get around for very brief periods without it, but my energy disappears rapidly – even walking down the street to get the mail wears me out for the day. The scooter is so helpful, but I am unable to lift it in and out of the house without assistance, and we do not have a secure place to store it outside.

We are hoping to raise enough money for a ramp for our front door. This ramp will allow me to get in and out of the house with ease and go out and do the things I need to do.

At this time, my husband and I are very short of funds and are on a very tight budget. I am going back to school and Phil is working hard to provide for us, to ensure we have a roof over our heads, food in our bellies and a car to help me get around. While I am going to school downtown, to save money on parking fees, I will be taking Calgary Transit to and from classes. But I need my scooter to get to and get around school, and I can’t count on having someone around to help me get the scooter in and out of the house when I need it.
I am hoping to get the ramp before the cold and snow sets in for the winter. Any amount helps.

IF we receive money that is above our goal, any extra will go to paying off the financing on the scooter itself. The sooner it is paid off, the better.
