A proper burial for Kokou Adjoavi

Donation protected
Hello everybody,

It is with a heavy heart that I ask for your help today.

This morning, Kokou Adjoavi, the mother of one of my beloved friends, Nadine Dogbe, passed at the CHU hospital in Lomé, Togo, leaving behind a husband and two children.

For the past 6 months, Nadia’s mom had been suffering from a severe condition called dermatitis herpetiformis and it wasn’t until recently that it got diagnosed, leading her immune system to become severely compromised and prone to skin infections.

In the eyes of many, Kokou was an extremely strong woman, who always smiled and giggled despite the many challenges of life. It is without doubt that we’ve lost a bright light of joy in the world.

Fearlessly independent, she worked her way tirelessly from from street hawking to becoming a established shopkeeper within the last year and did everything she could to help her family.

After her daughter Nadine was awarded the diversity visa in 2011, she and her husband, worked extremely hard to offer Nadine a chance to study in the U.S. so she could fulfill her goals of becoming a public health professional one day. They sold their home in Lome so they could afford her a one way ticket to the U.S.

Unfortunately, Nadine’s father lost his job in 2010, and ever since, Nadia had been taking care of her mother, father and little brother, while at the same time being a full time student at St Olaf College, and taking care of personal expenses.

Nadia’s mother meant the world to her, and when she left Togo, she promised to always make her proud and honour her in every way possible.

Thanks to the generous support of one of her professors, Nadine will be flying home tomorrow in order to assist her family with burial and grieve.

Due to the tragic and unexpected loss of Kokou, I am in an urgent need of your support, which will help Nadine honour her mother one last time and through a proper burial.

On a final note, I want to thank everybody who already has helped Nadine through all these difficult times. It’s incredible to see so much goodness from friends and strangers, and I want to let you know of how grateful she is for all your help.

For those of you who are reading this and helping right now, thank you so much for your kindness and generous hearts. Please share this around and may God bless you.
