A New Liver for Rob Stainsby
Donation protected
"Thank you so much for doing this for me. I am not the kind of person who asks for help but I am kind of backed into a corner. " ~ Rob Stainsby
Our friend Rob needs your help! Many of you reading this may not have known Rob has been very ill for several years. He has a history of end-stage liver disease due to Hemochromatosis diagnosed 20 years ago.
Hemochromatosis is a disorder in which extra iron builds up in the body to harmful levels. Without treatment, Hemochromatosis can cause iron overload, a buildup of iron that can damage many parts of the body, including your liver, heart, pancreas, endocrine glands, and joints.
The most used treatment for Hemochromatosis is a procedure to remove some of your blood, known as a phlebotomy or venesection. The procedure is like giving blood. In the last two years Rob has donated over 100 pints of blood.
Life expectancy reduces in patients who present with cirrhosis and diabetes. Rob has developed both cirrhosis and diabetes in the last two years, which has now caused liver failure. Without a liver transplant Rob will lose his life to this horrible disease.
Rob & Krisy are currently staying with friends in Phoenix so they can be closer to the Mayo Clinic. As Rob moves up the list, they are required to seek residency within five miles of the Mayo Clinic.
Rob is a very humbled man; he is always the one to care for others and give when people need it most. He has put off asking for help as long as he possibly can and he needs our help NOW!
Rob’s current monthly drug costs are over $5,000, this is after the insurance deductibles. With the need for residency, the cost will run anywhere from $2500 - $4,000 per month for an apartment. Once Rob has undergone his liver transplant, he will need transplant medication for the rest of his life.
As you can see the expenses add up quickly and right now are extremely overwhelming for both Rob & Krisy as neither one of them are working.
Your gift will ease their minds and allow them to focus on Rob’s care.
Rob has a lot of living to do still and needs this liver transplant to do that. He is a son, a brother, an uncle, a life-long companion, father figure and an amazing friend and we need him!
Please do what you can, and if you can’t please get on your knees and pray for our friend Rob Stainsby!
