A New life for Abdouramane!

"Bonjour! Mon nom est Abdouramane, j’ai 3 ans et je vis en Guinée, plus précisement dans la capitale de conakry. Il y a un an, on m’a diagnostiqué une hydrocéphalie. C’est un excès de liquide céphalo-rachidien dans les cavités de cerveau, qui entraine une augmentation de la pression intracrânienne. Ne pouvant payer les frais médicaux, mes parents m’ont abandonné dans un centre local, qui m’a ensuite transféré dans un hôpital public de conakry, l’hôpital Donka, qui manque actuellement de ressources suffisantes et d’un neurochirurgien capable de soigner ma maladie. Pour me donner une autre chance de vivre, les médecins locaux ont conseillé un transfert urgent vers un établissement spécialisé en Belgique appelé le Saint-LUc afin de recevoir une intervention chirurgical nécessaire pour me permettre de vivre. Biventricular Hydrocephalus is when the cerebral spinal fluid cannot be absorbed back into the body by the venous system. This leads to excess water forming around the brain and causes intracranial pressure to increase and a multitude of harmful symptoms. Not being able to afford the medical expenses, my parents abandoned me in a local health center, which then transferred me to a publicly owned hospital in Conakry, the Donka Hospital. The Donka Hospital which is currently caring for me, lacks adequate resources and a neurosurgeon with the ability to treat my disease. To give me another chance to live, the local doctors advised an urgent transfer to a specialized institution in Belgium called the Saint-Luc in order to receive the adequate surgery I need to allow me to live.
