<div>Project Summary – New Feline Shelter and TNR Support Facility

<div><em>Cadela Carlota Association urgently requires the construction of a new cat shelter </em>due to the severe degradation of its current facilities, which no longer meet basic standards of safety, hygiene, animal welfare, or legal compliance. Structural damage, public health risks, lack of proper isolation areas, and unsafe conditions for volunteers make relocation unavoidable.

<div>The new shelter is planned for a plot of land potentially to be granted by the local municipality. This land allocation is currently under review by municipal services and, if approved, will be located on the road to Sargaçal.
</div>
<div>The facility will be designed to ensure high animal welfare standards and will include an intake and veterinary triage area, spacious communal housing with outdoor “catio” access, a dedicated unit for FIV/FeLV-positive cats, quarantine and isolation zones, and essential support areas such as storage, sanitary facilities, and office space.

<div>This new infrastructure will improve adoption rates, strengthen disease control, support local Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, and enhance community engagement.
</div>
<div>In addition, the project includes a dedicated TNR support facility—a 54m² prefabricated garage—which will serve as a logistical base for managing feral cat populations. This unit will provide a secure and efficient transition space between field operations and veterinary care, ensuring a more humane and effective population control process.

<div>However, efforts to raise additional funds to successfully complete the project must continue, and we need support from everyone—including the local community—to bring this ambitious project to fruition.

<div>A nossa permanência num terreno que pertence à cidade de Lagos vai terminar em breve. A Câmara Municipal irá remodelar o espaço público onde o abrigo para gatos está atualmente localizado. A Câmara iniciou também a expansão do Canil Municipal de Lagos. No entanto, a ampliação que está a ser feita não cobrirá as necessidades da área que estamos a servir. Assim que o Canil Municipal de Lagos estiver concluído a necessidade de relocalização do nosso abrigo para os gatos será iminente.

<div>Temos a sorte de poder construir o novo abrigo para os gatos no terreno onde está localizado o nosso abrigo para cães.

<div>Fase 1 do projeto: implementação de uma estrutura industrial metálica exterior, construída de acordo com os regulamentos do terreno, incluindo acesso a canalização e eletricidade para garantir a limpeza e desinfeção contínuas de todas as áreas.

<div>- Ter espaço para acomodar as necessidades crescentes, até 100 gatos.
</div>
<div>- Ter espaços interiores e exteriores para cuidar de gatos feridos, doentes, recentemente esterilizados, bem como de mães com os seus gatinhos e gatos saudáveis à espera de adoção.
</div>
<div>- Ter zonas de quarentena separadas para doenças contagiosas, a fim de evitar a propagação de doenças.

<div>Fase 2 do projeto: adição de um santuário dedicado aos gatos selvagens, que não conseguem sobreviver na natureza devido a ferimentos ou doenças. Estes gatos selvagens não podem coexistir com os restantes gatos do abrigo.
