Hello! My name is Anthony Shepherd and I am a Boy Scout from Troop 210, fundraising to accomplish my Eagle Project. My project takes place on and around Navy Field, Lomita CA — a part of a local Little League baseball organization: Lomita Little League. I have spent over 4 years playing on this field alongside the coach of the South Bay Rockies, Will Boguille, and the beautification of the pony-sized field holds great weight and importance to me.

For the first part of my project, I aim to replace a section of the field's scoreboard (the upper, decorative, metal portion with team logos) because there is a deep crack and conspicuous bend developing in the upper-left corner. The replacement sign has been quoted for my project at $2,326.28 from the company Front Signs (including installation) which is what the majority of the funding would be going towards.

Beyond the damaged scoreboard, my project will address the worn-out bleachers that the team parents sit and spectate games on since they have badly deteriorated leaving some of the wood broken through and splintered.

Because of these eye-drawing hazards, I aim to replace the broken wood, sand and re-paint the salvageable portions of the bleachers for the many viewers of the new post-COVID games. To cover the cost of replacing the broken boards is a quoted $355 from Ganahl. The remaining expenses of my project include the rental of power tools, the purchase of paint, painting supplies, personal protection equipment, and breakfast and lunch for the people helping me do the installation over the two days of the project's execution.

Although these repairs entail aesthetic improvement, they also hold emotional significance to me as well. While spending those 4 years on Coach Will's team, another team, the Rolling Hills Preparatory School Huskies — also affiliated with Coach Will — has since parted ways with the field, and my prior coach, yet their team's logo remains on the scoreboard. To turn the page for the field, and the players who will be playing on the field, replacing the broken upper-half of the scoreboard with a new version that only includes the South Bay Rockies Logo and the Lomita Little League Logo as well as giving the benches a total remodel, symbolically allows the field to move forward into a new era of great baseball. ​
