<div>I recently escaped Ohio to move to California due to anti-trans legislation.  One bill in particular that was especially aggregious was a bill that would preclude trans people from receiving mental health benefits.  The idea that we are "mentally ill", but also not allowing us to receive mental health care is very telling.  The goal isn't to make us better; it's to eliminate us.

<div>For this reason, I felt that the move to California was absolutely necessary.  I'm crashing with a friend who understandably wants her space back.  I get it, I've been here for six months.  I don't blame her in the slightest.  It took a while for me to obtain employment, but I was finally able to do so last month!  I'm making a decent living that can cover my living expenses!

<div>The problem is that in my quest to get out here, my credit REALLY took a beating.  The ONLY place that I've been able to find willing to rent to me is requiring a bond.  That bond is $3000, and that would be on top of move-in expenses with the landlord.  They want this money within 48 hours.  While I'm making enough to support myself, I am not making anywhere near the amount of money that would let me produce over $3000 in two days.

<div>The apartment I'm looking at is nothing extravagent.  It's a second floor 1br apartment in a five story building.  It is under 500 sq ft.  You may as, "Why not go for a studio?  Surely that would be cheaper?"  And, you wouldn't be wrong, but not by as much as you think.  It's only $200/mo less for a studio, plus I have two children back in Ohio that I would like to have visit from time to time.  The extra space is VERY necessary.  I am asking for any assistance that you can spare in order for me to get out of my friends house before she gets so fed up with me taking up her space that I lose a very dear friend, or worse.
