A Musical Tribute to John Robin

We lost John Robin on September 1, almost five months before he should have been born. He brought such joy and hope as we looked forward to having him here with us, and we still want that joy and hope to be felt because of him.
We have asked our friend Bob Phillips to write a piece of music for middle school orchestra as a way to continue to remember John Robin and to spread that joy and hope to those who know us as well as those who will play or hear the piece. It will hopefully be published this spring (2019) by Alfred Publishing. In the years before Micah was born Marianne taught orchestra and Aaron spent several years teaching English at the middle school level. We know that this music will be heard in many schools around the country, and we look forward to John Robin’s memory being honored in this way.
We are starting this campaign to raise money for both the musical commission and for a couple organizations that help families going through a loss like ours.
Teeny Tears - this organization provides tiny flannel diapers, blankets, and hats to hospitals to use for babies who are stillborn or lost through a late miscarriage. This seems like a small thing, but it is a significant comfort.
Little Angel Gowns - An Indianapolis based organization that uses donated wedding dresses to create gowns for stillborn babies.
Kate Cares - An organization which helps families as we try to find medical answers.
Memory Boxes - The nurses at the Bloomington Hospital provide families with a memory box including footprint impressions and pictures. We would like to donate to this effort either monetarily or with materials.
We are creating this campaign because we would love for this to be a partly a community effort. It’s hard to help in situations like this, when words don’t seem like enough but it’s all you can do.
