<div>My name is Alaa Al-Za'anoun. I am a mother of four children, living in Gaza City, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, Palestine. For months, the occupation has been relentlessly coercing families in the North to flee to the South under the pretence of safety and the provision of necessities needed to survive. Despite this, my family and I remained steadfast and refused to leave, knowing that fleeing would only perpetuate the decades-long cycle of generational displacement.

<div>In our steadfastness, we faced endless calamities and were forced to evacuate repeatedly. Our third evacuation was the most harrowing. On that day, the occupation issued an immediate evacuation notice for our area and others, directing us to evacuate to the west promptly. Upon receiving the notice, my family and I hurried out in fear, grabbing what little we could. Assuming safety, we made our way on foot through the heavy sounds of shelling, gunfire, and bombardment until we reached my sister’s home in the west.

<div>In the early hours of the following morning, we were awakened by intense sounds of gunfire, heavy shelling, and erratic explosions. Suddenly, the occupation’s tanks and vehicles surged, surrounding all those who had fled and trapping us for several days with barely enough food and water to sustain ourselves. By the fourth day, two missiles from the occupation’s warplanes struck the home we were taking refuge in, producing a horrifying blast and filling the air with smoke, dust, and rubble. I heard the screams of my children and yelled, mortified, "Where are Mina and Mohammed?" Blinded by the dust and destruction, I screamed, "Mina, Mohammed, are you alive? Respond to me, children, are you alive?!"

<div>I hurried over the rubble, searching for my children in a state of shock and disbelief, unable to imagine they were alive. Then I heard their voices, "Mama, we are alive. Are you okay? Are you and our siblings okay?" I thanked God profusely and pulled them out from underneath the walls that had collapsed on them. Their bodies were covered in dust and debris, and their legs were both bleeding. Petrified of what might follow, we left the house, fearing the inevitable reality of further bombing. We hurried out through the empty streets, gripped by terror and fear, with the occupation’s warplanes overhead and their tanks surrounding us, escaping death once again under Allah's protection.

<div>This is how we have been living in Gaza since October 7th—through horror, death, hunger, siege, destruction, and genocide. Living through war, occupation, and genocide is a depleting experience that only those who have lived through it can truly understand. It’s not the daily scenes of destruction and death that break a person, but the collateral effects and slow death that come with it. You witness the shortage and scarcity of basic household foods and the mandated malnutrition your family is forced to experience through the makeshift meals you’re able to prepare. You witness your family isolating themselves with nothing to do but tolerate the hardship forced on them, a hardship that is forced on you, too. But as a mother, you do what you must to create a normal life for your family.

<div>You can rebuild cities destroyed by airstrikes and bombing, but you cannot repair the profound devastation inflicted on their people. In this genocide, everyone has a different story. The Palestinian mother faces tremendous hardships to remain steadfast and fearless for herself and her family. I am at a point where I need to continue. I want to be able to provide my family with the essentials needed to carry on. For this reason, I’ve started this GoFundMe campaign. I ask all those who understand what we have faced and believe in our steadfastness and perseverance in the North of Gaza to support our continuity in life. A Palestinian mother's maternal instinct brings hope and strength to her children and family. While survival cannot be priced, I have set the campaign goal at 50,000 Euros. These funds will help our family restore and renovate our home and provide the minimal level of relief needed to carry on through this genocide. I ask all those who believe that Gaza and its people deserve life to stand by our side and support us.

<div>في الساعات الأولى من صباح اليوم التالي، استيقظنا على أصوات مكثفة لإطلاق النار والقصف الشديد والانفجارات العشوائية . فجأة، اندفعت دبابات ومركبات الاحتلال حاصرن كل من فر لعدة أيام مع قليل من الطعام والماء الذي يكاد يكفي للبقاء على قيد الحياة. في اليوم الرابع، قصفت طائرات الاحتلال المنزل الذي كنا نلجأ فيه بصاروخين، فُزعنا من شدة الصوت وامتلأ الهواء بالدخان والغبار والركام و صراخ أطفالي . اولادي... اين منة؟ اين محمد؟ غير قادر على رؤية “شيء بسبب الغبار والدمار، صرخت “منة ، محمد ، عايشين؟! ردوا عليا! يا ماما عايشين!؟.

<div>اسرعت امشي فوق الركام وابحث عن اولادي وانا بحالة من الذهول والصدمة لم اتخيل بان يخرجوا احياء من تحت الردم حتى سمعت أصوتهم يقولون، "ماما نحن عايشين . انتي بخير، انتي واخوتي؟". حمدت الله كثيراً و اخرجناهم تحت ردمن الحائط الذي انهدم عليهم، أجسادهم مغطاة بالغبار والركام والدم يسيل من ارجلهم. خائفين مما قد يتبع، قررنا مغادرة المنزل خوفاً من القصف المتكرر. أسرعنا في الخروج عبر الشوارع الخالية، ممسكين بالرعب والخوف، مع طائرات الاحتلال تحلق فوقنا ودباباتهم تحاصرنا، هرباً من الموت مرة أخرى تحت حماية الله.

<div>هكذا نعيش في غزة منذ السابع من أكتوبر تحت الرعب والموت والجوع والحصار والدمار والإبادة الجماعية. العيش في ظل الحرب والاحتلال والإبادة الجماعية تجربة مستنزفة لا يفهمها إلا من عاشها. ليست مشاهد الدمار والموت اليومية هو اللذي يكسرالانسان، بل التأثيرات الجانبية والموت البطيء الذي يأتي معه. تشهد نقص و ندرة المواد الغذائية الأساسية في المنزل وسوء التغذية المفروض على عائلتك بسبب الوجبات البسيط التي يمكنك إعدادها. وتشهد عائلتك تعزل نفسها دون أن تفعل شيئًا سوى تتحمل الصعوبات المفروضة عليها. صعوبات فرضت عليك أيضًا، ولكن كأم، عليكي أن تفعلي ما بقدرتك لتوفيري شكل حياة طبيعية لعائلتك.
