A Mothers Fight with Leukemia

Donation protected
Maria De Los Angeles Olvera was diagnosed May 2018 with Leukemia and Lymphoma  with-in just weeks after she had to stop paying her insurance premiums through her employer (Covenant Nursing Home) Maria had Kaiser Permanente of San Diego for insurance provider .

Covenant Nursing Home was cutting Maria's hours and she was not making enough weekly to maintain the insurance premiums (Kaiser)  per month for her monthly premium and the premiums became to costly for her to endure with working only part time Maria's premium was (100.00 every 2 weeks) and many weeks her hours worked did not even provide enough money to even cover the coverage.

One week later after her cancelling the Kaiser Permanente Insurance through (Convenant Nursing Home) thinking she was going to save money Maria discovered that she had Leukemia.

Kaiser Permanente MFA (Medical Financial Assistance program) provided Maria with emergency funding to allow Maria to begin Chemotherapy treatments. Maria was beginning to have symptoms from her chemo treatment nausea, vomiting, bad headaches and constipation she headed to the Emergency Room for HELP with the pain and suffering Maria was experiencing.  At the time Maria did not realize that the Emergency Room is not covered under MFA and was advised from the staff to get Emergency Medical through the State of California. Maria did as what she thought was the good advice and it was not good advice at all.

When Maria went back for her next Chemotherapy treatment Maria was informed that they would not do any more treatments because Maria had LOST the (MFA Medical Financial Assistance) because Maria could not be signed up for Emergency Medical and be on the MFA program at the same time for services.

Maria was also advised that she needed to go to L.A. Kaiser for a Bone Marrow Transplant. Maria had made the appointment and went to see the Specialist but at the appointment Maria was told that he could not do anything for Maria since she no longer had  MFA (Medical Financial Assistance).

Maria now is without MFA and only has Emergency Medical. Maria learned that Emergency Medical does not cover any of Maria's Chemotherapy treatment or Maria's Bone Marrow Transplant.

Maria is in the process of now enrolling in  a new insurance coverage and the premiums will be costing $500.00 per month with a 4 waiting period starting date January of 2019.

We are seeking help to cover Maria's remaining chemotherapy treatments throughout the rest of Maria's Chemotherapy cycle estimated at (7000.00) per each treatment along with any other cost of medications or treatments that will occur with fighting this horrible disease. We are hoping to even be able to assist Maria in receiving her bone marrow transplant in L.A.
