a Lot of Studio: Podcast, Performance, and Garden

Tax deductible
‘a Lot of Studio’ is the project that further ingratiates Detroit is Different with community and media. ‘A Lot of Studio’ is transitioning a physical space into a virtual platform. Repurposing a vacant lot into a production studio with live audience recording is what ‘a Lot of Studio’ will be. The experience attendants enjoy at Warner Bros., Universal Studios, and Fox will now be in the heart of Westside Detroit’s Hope Village neighborhood. This enhances the current condition which some label as blight and offers the community an opportunity to engage with evergreen media.

‘a Lot of Studio,’ takes place in the community garden started by Detroit is Different founder Khary Frazier and steps away from the Detroit is Different incubator. 'a Lot of Studio' is an eclectic mix of welcoming culture, creativity, and community inside a legacy Detroit westside neighborhood. What started in 2021 continues today. An offering of fresh food from our garden, entertaining and informational podcast discussions, and live music performances building culture is what Detroit is Different gives with 'a Lot of Studio.'

Detroit is Different Community Group is a 501(c)(3) organization formed by Khary Frazier to bridge the gap between marginalized Black Detroiters and traditional local media outlets by producing an annual summer series entitled "a Lot of Studio.” An obvious play on words and true to its name, "a Lot of Studio" creates the live studio audience experience within the heart of a westside Detroit neighborhood by conducting live weekly podcasts with in-person guests on four vacant lots which serve as the “studio” for the production.  "a Lot of Studio" consists of three distinct components that each  serve to empower its audience and address the issues that are important to them:

The podcast series;
Urban farming produces a giveaway component; and
The entertainment component.

In 2021 Detroit is Different raised $33,275.00 to produce a Lot of Studio with the support of over 105 individual patrons, the National Black Talk Show Hosts Association INC, The Transforming Power Fund, Greg Frazier CPA, Detroit City Distillery, The University of Michigan, Hope Village Revitalization, and Creative Differences Marketing INC.
Now we officially have launched Detroit is Different Community Group INC 501c3 Non-Profit Organization. This year's fundraising goals for the a Lot of Studio project are set for $50,000.

Funding for this project will help the stage, performance, landscape, and care for the new four lots of land, shipping container space, audio & video services, administrative costs, and giveaways.
