A Kidney for Jackie

A mother's plea....
As most of our family and close friends know, and for those of you who did not know, my (our) daughterJacqueline has been silently battling SLE (aka Systemic Lupus Erythematous) for over 15 years. SLE is an inflammatory disease caused when your immune system attacks your own tissues. While life long treatment helps some, there is NO cure. The disease can at times go into remission but it also has debilitating flare ups that can cause complications.
Over the years, Jackie has quietly struggled between the ups and downs as she fought to live what she wanted most in life, a "normal" life like everyone else. Unfortunately, four years ago, she faced the news that her Lupus was attacking her kidneys and slowly breaking them down leaving her no other solution but to resort to, "dialysis," until she could be evaluated, considered and ultimately approved for a kidney transplant.
Needless to say the news was devastating! Jackie who was barely 35years old and had a son who depended on her, 6 year old Elijah, would now be needing dialysis 3x a week to keep her alive. At that moment, Jackie knew she was being challenged to fight her greatest fight of all, not just for herself, but for her son. She knew quitting, was NOT AN OPTION, and she would have to find strength she never even knew existed within her to get thru this next journey on her path to healing, and the answer to our prayers, a Kidney Transplant!
Well, fast forward, as we all know, God works in mysterious ways and things happen in his time according to his plans. Last month we recieved word that Jackie had been approved for a kidney transplant! Without hestitation, her younger sister Vanessa, immediately volunteered to be Jackie's donor and said, " Let's do this!"
However, as much as we'd love to just jump in and, "do this," we are faced with the difficult and financial reality of life. Without a sizeable down payment in the amount of $7500, doctors cannot even begin the process...and that is regardless of her insurance.
So, as a mother, Jackie's mother and as a grandmother, Elijah's grandmother, I am putting my pride aside and reaching out to my family and friends for your financial assistance to help Jackie get the kidney transplant she so desperately needs now, and one her sister Vanessa is wanting and ready to give.
Anything you can find in your heart to spare, anything you can give is and will be forever and most genuinely appreciated......
Please, help us get Jackie a kidney this New Year!
