Hi, I’m Jo.

I’ve grown up around animals for as long as I can remember. From starting horse riding at a young age, to being taught by my mum to always treat animals with kindness and care, it’s something that has always been a huge part of who I am.

Over the years, I’ve found it incredibly difficult to ignore the reality of animal cruelty—especially when it comes to elephants used for rides and entertainment, and stray dogs left to suffer on the streets. Like many people, I’ve seen it, felt upset by it, and wished I could do something more.

Now, I’ve decided to try.

I am planning a trip to Thailand with my fiancé where we will be volunteering with ethical animal organisations, supporting rescued elephants and helping care for street dogs. These animals are often overworked, neglected, or left without proper care, and they rely on people stepping in to give them a second chance.

Even if it’s just one elephant given a life free from exploitation, or one stray dog helped out of hunger, illness or pain—then it will be worth it. I want to be able to say that I didn’t just watch from the sidelines, I tried to make a difference.

Throughout this journey, we will also be documenting everything on social media to raise awareness and educate others on the realities of animal welfare in tourism, as well as highlighting the incredible work these organisations are doing.

My fiancé will be joining me on this journey, supporting both the volunteering work and helping to capture and share our experience so we can reach as many people as possible.
