*Jacobo Hernández Rubio* es originario de Xilitla, San Luis Potosí, México, y tiene 25 años de edad. Llegó a Estados Unidos a trabajar en los campos agrícolas. El 22 de diciembre de 2024 fue víctima de un asalto armado en el estado de Georgia y recibió un disparo en el abdomen. Fue trasladado de emergencia al hospital UF Health en Jacksonville, Florida, donde fue sometido a múltiples cirugías que implicaron la extirpación de varios órganos vitales. Durante mucho tiempo, estuvo en estado crítico, pero ha logrado salir adelante. Aún así, Jacobo requiere un trasplante multiorgánico para poder seguir con vida. 
 
La cirugía que requiere Jacobo es muy compleja y solo la pueden realizar un pequeño número de hospitales en Estados Unidos; uno de ellos es el Hospital Jackson Memorial, en Miami. Para que el Hospital Jackson Memorial acepte a Jacobo en su lista de candidatos a trasplante, es necesario que el resida en esta ciudad. Por ello, Jacobo y su hermano Gerbacio se encuentran en Miami desde el pasado 23 de junio. 
 
Jacobo necesita todo el apoyo posible para 1) seguir cubriendo el costo de su seguro médico que le proporciona medicinas, alimento y curaciones; 2) cubrir el costo de renta de un lugar donde vivir mientras espera ser aceptado para su cirugía; y 3) cubrir muchos otros costos relacionados con su manutención.
